First, Happy Labor Day weekend to all those in the United States, and a very happy weekend to all everywhere!
I’m in the middle of updating some of the blog plugins at Whole Hog Blogs, checking small mailing issues here and there, cleaning out my gmail (where all the forms go first which helps a ton), etc. As often happens, the process popped something into my head (I swear I cannot remember my initial motives), which landed me at Google.
During the course of my search, it occurred to me that while for many this is obvious, for some it may not be – in your quest for specific information online you have no doubt noticed that when you use any search engine out there to look stuff up, you get a ton of returned information – much of it not at all what you were asking or looking for.
Well the solution is a simple one – put quote marks around what you are typing into that search engine.
For example say you’re looking for the best advertising techniques. Typically, typed as-is, you’ll get any and all results where someone has used the word “best” or “advertising” or “techniques” or a combination thereof.
However when you type the same phrase in quotes – “best advertising techniques” – you are telling the search engines to return only those pages that have that specific phrase – in its entirety – for your results.
It’s the small things in life. And this small thing, while apparent to some, might be a tool you personally did not know existed.
So the next time you’re at Yahoo! or Google or Bing remember to tell them specifically what it is you are looking for… Narrow your searches using quotes and save yourself a ton of time.

Very good tip Theresa, Thankyou!
Hi Donna! So good to see you
Thanks also for the comment; I was afraid it was too basic, but surprisingly a large percentage of new users really do not know this tiny tip that pays off so well when searching for information online.
This does save time on searches of all kinds, even in forums.
This is going to save a lot of time! Thanks so much.
Yeah, this was just a test to get the commentluv working again and it does!
