  6. Meme of the moment! I seem to be seeing this all over the place. There doesn’t seem to be a European equivalent.

Thanks Karen! Can you imagine what coordination it took to put this together? If “we” can do something like this, imagine everyone finally just agreeing to disagree and getting stuff done?!? Now there will be the true miracle!

    Hi Theresa.

Well, first let me say that I love the music, the talent and the collaboration in this piece.

I’ve listened to it twice, though, and I’m still trying to figure out what the actual message is.

One line that stuck out to me was: “the government is letting people down.” I hope that by that they mean that the PEOPLE in the government are letting people down. I would certainly go along with that.

Now more than ever, I’d love to throw the WHOLE gang out and start over.

But the overall lyric is a mystery to me. Is the idea simply to hold hands and sing Kum Ba Ya and all challenges will be solved?

Please know that I ask this respectfully my friend. :)

I know this won’t be a popular comment, but I sure wish they called it something else. The name is kind of a turn off for me. I found the words depressing and along the lines of what we hear everyday on the news. I am inspired however that a paradigm shift is happening because it is necessary. We can’t rely on how things ran in the past because that is long gone.

@Brad – thanks for stopping by! I believe the point being made is that of unity. Presenting a UNIFIED front, along with the message that Washington, D.C. is here to serve US (and no “side” is doing its job at present) is the message. You did see the guy in the Marine t-shirt, yes? Even the military is feeling a lack of representative government.

@Maureen – strangely enough I agree about the name, a tad too close to a religious overtone for the message. Not sure how “born again” we, the citizens of this country need to be… I believe leaning more toward those elected to do their jobs need to be “born again.” This lack of unity, even among us “common folk” is what’s keeping it all from falling into place and fixing itself. This need to “be right” versus just doing the job. Can’t people ever get it right??

With what happened at Ft. Hood today, it is even more apparent that people and their positions are very misunderstood. So sad.

  12. Barbara says:

I agree with you on those who were elected need to be “born again.” Yes, there is a lack of unity. Yes, also there are many who feel the government has let them down.

  14. Trying to put together a European version would be a little like trying to herd cats. :)

  15. Everyone has their right to say or sing what they please. Thank goodness for our freedom.
