This is just a quick note to announce the successful move of all the blogs of the Whole Hog Blogs network! It took 16+ hour days for the past week or more, but it’s done!
Typically they say you can move a wordpress blog. What they really mean is you can IF you’re a near genius. There are giant hurdles to overcome, from corrupted databases to file import size restrictions to going from a cpanel setting to Plesk. Lucky for me, my brother is a genius and a coder. And, I’ve added another valuable skill base to my existing plethora of online knowledge. Sounds like bragging, but it’s not. If your week to 10 days has been used to learn a whole set of new environments, I salute you!
However, during the course of moving everyone – yes successfully – I neglected to grab one of the files I needed for THIS blog. That would figure, wouldn’t it…
You’ll notice that there are gaping holes at the moment. Numerous missing entries, numerous comments gone astray. I am, at my leisure because I’m exhausted, working at putting back what I either have on my hard drive or can find out online. The comments, too, I’m trying to reconstruct.
So in the meantime, please bear with me. It’s been a long, long, long, long week

Can’t remember if it’s Diane or Theresa on this one…LOL.
Either way, I think it’s safe to say that if ANYONE can get all that data back, it will be you! And I certainly hope you’re able to recover it all as I know it’s a VALUABLE body of information.
So take your time and see what you can do.
Ha! Thanks for all of your efforts Theresa-
lol … you very likely deserve a break! Gotta love technology when it works! I’m technically challenged and don’t envy your tasks.
I wish you all the best in recovering your data.
Sincerely,
Terry
Magic happens when you give with an open heart
Hi Theresa! Yeah crack myself up sometimes. I swear at one point I was telling my brother a setting and said, “Capital L as in Sam” LOLOL! You KNOW at that point, you’ve sort of lost it
Unfortunately, now I’m out hunting “it” because I’d like to get the comments, too. There were so many of them and each person deserves that link, assuming Google will give it up to me.
I also appear to need to work with this theme. The click to submit and commentluv run too close together, the linked items are brown (I like blue) and the commentluv (I think) should be allowing the person the choice of what page to show.
But what’s life if everything goes easily?… Thanks for coming by!
Just my alter ego making a test comment…
Hi Theresa, been having trouble commenting so I’m not sure this will stick. Hope you get your blog back together soon!
Hi Brad! Just to confuse you further I’m replying to say slowly but surely I’m getting most of it back. Cached pages on Google are coming in mighty handy

I agree with Brad…if anyone can get all their data back it’s you.

Thanks Cady! I’m on my way today to the forum. I owe you all soooooo much! Thank you!
Congrats on getting it done. I have been avoiding changing my webhost for years because I know it will be a hassle

Hi V! Hassle wise, maybe if your database has gotten out of control. What you have to remember to do (my advice is after EVERY post) is to EXPORT your file (under Tools in WordPress) and save it to a folder on your own computer. Have several exports in there at any given time. This way if something is wrong with one, you have the next latest to fall back on should you need. Also, just like I tell everyone at whole-hog-blogs, write your posts in wordpad or notepad (not word doc!) and have a copy of it on your own computer.
THIS blog… well I did not follow my own advice. Again, teacher teach thyself. Many of the posts on THIS blog were just off the cuff. I’m paying for it now
I kinda like this new look. Thanks for all of your effort. You are such a blessing to all of us at WHB!
You are so welcome Barbara
Yeah, it’s a different look than the main website, but relaxing I think.
Heres to hoping you get everything in order.
Thank you Caroline! I think I’ve almost given up getting everything back. It’s strange, because I know from my prior stats I was getting hits out of google and the like for all sorts of other posts, yet I cannot find them anywhere. I have found a few, but stupid me… I put the “read more” tag in so only a portion of the original is there. It would, of course, point to the rest IF it were on this blog. Again oh well
Wow! Fancy meeting you on the Comment Exchange! And just imagine today being your day!
Thanks for the CE referral, Diane. I do enjoy getting around to the little community and developing the relationships!

Funny how one little tiny missing thing can screw stuff up!
Karen you’re not kidding! Actually if I hadn’t been in such a rush… All I can say is that every single Whole Hog Blog within the network transferred just fine. Some were messier than others – database and import wise – but they all made it safely. I also run at least two other blogs, all of which I got the full details from prior to shutting down the other server. Only this one… Sigh. Ah well, life goes on
As long as I’ve been blogging I still leave updates, changes, etc. to someone else to do. It’s just not something I can make time to do well. Glad you’re getting your blog in order.
