As the year winds down, it’s time to start thinking and planning and implementing for the New Year. Ask yourself, “Wouldn’t it be great to actually be an info marketing wizard?!”
Let’s start your New Year out right, shall we? So much plain crap circulates around the net about making money online. The sad truth is that too many people actually believe it.
So let’s take a look at just three (3) – there are plenty more, trust me – myths you need to rethink:
Myth #1 – “I can discover how to make money online for FREE by reading internet forums!”
Are you aware of how dangerous this thinking is? Listen: ANYONE can subscribe to an internet marketing or “make money online” forum. There are threads upon threads of conversation where these people have never made money in their lives, yet make the attempt to come off as knowledgeable and “hardened” veterans. What they do have (a vast majority of them) is the time to sit in a forum and bad mouth everything and everyone. Sure you might get some good profitable tidbits here and there. But at what expense?
Myth #2 – “I’ll join my brother’s MLM company and watch the cash roll into my bank account!”
Multilevel marketing is a great business model and there are a LOT of people making decent money at it, but the cold hard truth is that you’re simply making someone else rich! For every commission you make selling your “widget” you can guarantee the guy in your upline is making a LOT more! You also need to be careful about your choices because you will need to spend money to make money to get your piece of your network marketing pie. So buyer beware. Know what’s in the “back office” and don’t just get suckered in by the “compensation plan.” Most of the time you’re not selling a real asset you can sell at a later date and strike it rich!
Myth #3 – “I’ll just buy that “How I Made $3,343,343.45 While Sitting On The Toilet” e-book my buddy told me about!”
Listen, the first thing you need to do is ask that buddy of yours how much he/she has made to date reading that $97 (or more) ebook. The plain truth is that if someone was able to make that much cash in that small amount of time, then why would he be selling it to you – now? There’s no such thing as “get rich quick” and the people who peddle that garbage know this to be true. When someone does “strike it rich” it’s by overcharging for information that can be had at affordable (I’m talking paperback) prices. And, the worst part of it is that these people are not going to cough it all up in one go. Why should they? If you’re willing to buy in… then doesn’t it make sense that the chances are greater (99.99% of the time) that you’re going to be strung along. Give it all away, and they have nothing left to sell to you, right?
Let’s face it, 2009 while great for a few, was a huge bummer for the masses – particularly offline. Turning to the internet to either pull in some extra income or start up your own business is a good idea. But it must be more than a “good idea.”
The truth is success is not going to happen overnight. You need to get out your trusty pencil and paper (yeah, try sitting away from the keyboard), pull up that chair to your kitchen table, and map out your strategies for 2010.
The business plan you set into action is just that – starting up the wheel. It will take you time; it will take you money; you will make good judgment calls and make bad business decisions. It’s all part of the growing pains of any start up company.
Whether striking out on your own with your own set of products or pursuing the affiliate marketing route don’t spend 2010 bumping into walls (or bouncing off them either). What you need instead includes:
o Research
o Planning
o Implementation
o Budget Setting for…
o Marketing and Advertising
o Guts, determination, and a “I will do this!” Attitude.
For a tiny, tiny few, 2009 will be a “whopping financial year in review.” And it is OK that you may not be able to count yourself among those few. A variety of hardships may have gotten in your way; your planning was just horrible; your follow through was hit and miss; your choices were not thought out.
Whatever the reason, those on the net for longer than a month (try 5 to 10 years) know that building income online is a continuous work in progress, and only for those hardy enough to stick with it – through the thin times – as you lay the groundwork for the years to come.
May 2010 be your time!
Happy New Year,
Theresa
